Waterton Lakes National Park adjoins Glacier National Park. The two meet at the USA / Canada border. The building in this image is the Prince of Wales hotel. It’s an an amazing architectural gem in a stunning location.
As I’ve been going back through old images and posting them, it’s given me the chance to review my past trips with some mental distance from the experience of being there. The majority of the images I’ve posted since this lockdown began are ones that I haven’t published previously. In one sense, they are the B-roll that didn’t make the cut when I published the trip gallery. Some of the time, I find images that I like better than the ones I published earlier.
What I’m finding remarkable about Glacier National Park is that there are so many amazing vistas in the “B-roll”. It’s one the most grand places I’ve ever been. I’ve often said Banff is the prettiest place North America and it’s absolutely lovely. But Glacier is more majestic and it has taken me going back through my images from Glacier to fully realize it. I’d love to go back. Maybe when this craziness is over, I will.

I’ve always loved how the flower just glows

I created this image in 2002. Every time I look it at, I still enjoy it. It was created in Vancouver, British Columbia at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

I created this image 20 years ago. It was one of my early photography successes. On this trip to San Diego, I tried out a couple of new things photography wise, including slide film. My images from that trip turned out great which was probably at least partially beginners luck. Creating some images I was really happy with was a gateway drug and 20 years later I’m still photographing.
La Jolla is my favorite urban sea scape. It’s just gorgeous. There are places that are more famous, like the French Rivera, but in my book, La Jolla beats them all.

I have mixed reactions to Mid-Century Modern Architecture. Some of it I can appreciate and some it I just find blah. The Palm Springs City Hall is one of the examples of the style that I like. That circle cut-out in the roof with trees growing through is quite something.

Two months back, I visited Mandu, the capital of the 13th century Malwa Sultanate in what is today the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. It seems like a lifetime ago, before COVID-19 had shutdown anything outside China. Now, I’m wondering when any of us will be able to travel again.
